The Spanish Gallery
From January 2020 to October 2021 Nick was Consultant Project Curator for The Spanish Gallery, part of The Auckland Project. Tasks included liaison, interpretation, and design of training programmes for security and invigilation, art appreciation, and customer services.
"As part of Nick’s consultancy work on The Spanish Gallery, one task was to create an interesting training experience to ensure volunteers were effectively trained on the gallery, works of art, customer service and invigilation. Nick created and delivered the complete suite of online training modules, and provided live tours that embedded the online learning.
His approach was collaborative and ensured we received what we actually wanted and needed. The volunteers were very complimentary of the training material which is still being used by new volunteers a year down the line."

Time Bandits
Nick and Fiona have worked extensively with Time Bandits, a professional team of historical costumed interpreters and re-enactors who are dedicated to bringing history to life in the North East and beyond. Nick’s work included tender preparation, scriptwriting, prop-making and model-making of historic battle landscapes, and Fiona supported Nick in many of the re-enactment and roleplaying events.
"Nick was a member of Time Bandits for about seven years in which time he took part in a significant number of historical events, ably filling a pretty broad canvas of historical interpretation and recreation of a number of historical characters, including our successful contribution to the Jubilee beacons at Cawfields milecastle in partnership with Hadrian’s Wall 1900 which achieved national recognition.
Fiona joined us for several successful events, and their attention to detail brought a welcome extra dimension to the performances."

Preston Park Museum
Preston Park is a well-established and family-friendly museum in Stockton on Tees, with a strong local following and a lively events programme throughout the year. Nick was asked to be part of their winter programme. He adapted his costumed character to fully suit the venue’s requirements and, using his experience of venues, events, customer service and performance he helped the museum team provide a memorable and enhanced visitor experience
"I had the pleasure of working with Nick when he provided the highlight of our Christmas museum festivities. He has a friendly, professional manner and his understanding of our heritage setting helped our event days to run successfully and smoothly.
Nick's roleplay is intelligent and believable, giving visitors the illusion that they truly have met the character he is portraying. He can engage visitors of any age or mind set, even the most stubborn 'non-believer' and send them away smiling."
